James is based in Barnstaple and sees clients across Devon and from the Bristol Office.
James joined Davies and Partners in 2003 as a specialist solicitor in the firm’s Clinical Negligence Department. In 2014 he was made a Consultant Solicitor.
Having over 20 years of experience of claimant clinical negligence work, James has dealt with a wide variety of cases and has gained a reputation of being both a thorough and compassionate solicitor and a tenacious and highly successful litigator.
James’ early legal career was notable for his involvement in two highly emotive and high-profile actions: The Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry and the Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital Litigation (the Alder Hey Organ Retention Litigation). James was one of five solicitors who formed the steering committee in the Alder Hey Litigation – driving this complex multi-party action to a settlement in excess of £5 million.
In recent years James has focused on working closely with individual clients to understand the nature of their injuries and consider the lifelong care many of them need.
In one particular case, for example, James’ client suffered a spinal injury where sadly a lifetime of disability was predicted. James successfully recovered more than £3 million compensation ensuring the client was provided with the best possible rehabilitation therapy, equipment and accommodation.
Litigation can be stressful and complicated. The importance of having a specialist solicitor on your side cannot be overstated. Few cases go all the way to trial, but when they do it is important you have the right person fighting for you. James has 100% success rate at trial and works closely with leading barristers and QC’s.
